We are blessed. We have access to computers and phones that are capable of doing things thought impossible a mere 50 years ago. We can instantly reach people thousands of miles away, we can instantly search and send information that previously took hours to research in libraries. Most importantly, we can network from the safety of our homes and the comfort of our couch. That’s why, if you are looking to make new connection in order to find a job, using LinkedIn is an absolute must.
LinkedIn is a social media service on the internet that focuses on professional connections. It is filled with headhunters looking to find the right person to fill positions at their companies. The beauty of this is they get paid to make these hires. I’m going to go ahead and assume that if you’re reading this article you are in the process of broadening your horizons and improving your quality of life by finding a new job. Not only will using LinkedIn make yourself and your resume accessible to these headhunters, it will connect you will people you already know from other social media platforms! Perhaps there’s a friend from high school that remembers you fondly and is working in your field. Congratulations, you just got a great reference! And all you did was make a new account and invite everyone you could.
We truly are blessed, that wasn’t just an opening line to get your attention! All the tools we need to find success and follow our dreams lie right in our pockets. It’s called a smartphone for a reason! You don’t even need to use a computer anymore! Assuming you have already gone through the process of creating the best resume you could, and assuming you are aware of how to best conquer the job interview process, LinkedIn could be that integral piece of the puzzle that gets you access to the type of positions you desire. All you did was go in your pocket, download an app, and fill out some fields.
LinkedIn gives you access to countless numbers of professionals connected to the field you are looking to work in! By taking the time to perfect your profile and remembering to include every aspect of your professional history you can, others on the service can and will refer you to the people you need to meet to get that coveted position. Treat the service seriously and it will yield rewards. LinkedIn is always active, always running, and so are its users. You could be gaining connections you never thought possible while sleeping! A whole new world can be opened up to you, you may be offered positions that you didn’t see yourself obtaining for several years! Every single person you add on linked-In is a potential chance to change your future, and if you are flexible enough to go with the flow you can reach new professional heights you didn’t even consider. Even after you find your success the service is worth keeping, for example, I know a professional in the industrial recycling field who receives new offers via Linked-In weekly. Because of this, the second he wants to change his station and surroundings the option is immediately available to him!
You are blessed. You have acquired the skills you need to go out and get that new position. You have the drive and ambition it takes to raise yourself out of your situation and seize the day! And if you weren’t already on LinkedIn, now you have yet another platform to expose others to the exquisite talent that is yourself!
